Penn State Abington & Penn State Berks Headed to NEAC Women's Volleyball Final Four

LATHAM, N.Y. – Third-seeded Penn State Abington won at home, and No. 5 seed Penn State Berks won on the road to advance to the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Final Four.

Penn State Abington (16-15) will face No. 2 seed Penn State Harrisburg in one semifinal, and Penn State Berks (16-14) will face top seed and host Morrisville State in the other semifinal. Game times on Saturday are 12 and 2:30 p.m., with the championship commencing at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Game 1: No. 5 Penn State Berks 3, No. 4 Lancaster Bible 2 - Box Score

Penn State Berks won the fifth set 15-12 after dropping set four to Lancaster Bible (16-16). Penn State Berks’ offense improved as the match progressed.  The Nittany Lions improved their hitting percentage in each stanza. Natalie Dwyer (Downingtown, Pa.) led the attack for Penn State Berks with 15 kills. Blair Eckel (Reading, Pa.) and Zoe Barna (Reading, Pa.) were also in double-figure kills. Julia Rathsam (Elizabethtown, Pa.) dished out 40 assists. The Chargers forced a fifth set with a 25-19 win in which they hit .324.

Game 2: No. 3 Penn State Abington 3, No. 6 Gallaudet 0 - Box Score

Penn State Abington and Gallaudet (11-24) played each set close with no stanza being decided by more than four points. Jenny McAnaney's (Maple Glen, Pa.) 16 kills led Penn State Abington, and Katharine Costello (New Hope, Pa.) added 15. Karita Lewis (Frederick, Md.) had 14 kills to pace the Bison. Gallaudet had more kills than Penn State Abington (42-34) but had 19 attack errors compared to Penn State Abington' 12. It is the first time that Penn State Abington has advanced to the Final Four.
