Cazenovia College, Wells College Lead Day One of 2019 NEAC Swimming & Diving Championship

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Cazenovia College women’s team and the Wells College men’s team finished in first place at the conclusion of day one of the 2018-19 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at Cazenovia College’s Schneeweiss Athletic Complex.

On the women’s side, the Wildcats scored 173 points after winning three events. The Cedar Crest College Falcons are in second place after tallying 143 points, while the Wells College Express head into day two in third with 130 points. The Gallaudet University Bison finished the day in fourth with 76 points and the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers are fifth with 52 points.

Wells College leads in the men’s championship after day one with 115 points. Gallaudet University closed out Friday evening in second place with 100 points while SUNY Cobleskill sits right behind in third place with 97 points. Cazenovia rounds out the field of four with 20 points.

Two new championship meet records were set on day one in the 500-yard freestyle. Cazenovia College senior Jenni Uplinger (Windsor, N.Y.) broke her former teammate Nichole Secor ‘s record with a time of 5:27.24. In the same event for the men, SUNY Cobleskill rookie Zackary Boekeloo (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) set a new mark with a final time of 4:55.04.
