Lancaster Bible & Keuka Advance to NEAC Men's Soccer Final Four

LATHAM, N.Y. – Fifth-seed Lancaster Bible College and sixth-seed Keuka College went on the road and won their quarterfinal contests in the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men’s Soccer Tournament. It is the second straight season that both lower seeds won in the quarterfinals.

Lancaster Bible (14-4-2) will face No. 1 seed Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in the semifinals. Keuka (7-9-1) and No. 2 Penn State Abington follow in the other semifinal matchup at 2 p.m. The championship game will be on Sunday at 1 p.m., which will be hosted by Penn State Harrisburg, where the winners of the semifinals will meet.

Game 1: No. 5 Lancaster Bible 2, No. 4 SUNY Cobleskill 0 – Box Score

Lancaster Bible won its fifth straight game with the shutout at SUNY Cobleskill. The Chargers got both goals inside the first six minutes of the game. Rama Mugisha (Lititz, Pa.) opened the scoring in the fourth minute. Two minutes later, Nathan Muckle (Madrid, Spain) doubled the lead. SUNY Cobleskill (9-6-4) tested Jake Deterline (Altoona, Pa.) in the Chargers’ goal, but the junior turned away all 10 shots on frame to record the shutout. Seven of Deterline’s 10 saves came in the second half. The Chargers advance to the Final Four for the third consecutive season.

Game 2: No. 6 Keuka 3, No. 3 SUNY Poly 0 – Box Score

Keuka College picked up its first win in the postseason since 2016. Chris Millard (Churchville, N.Y.) scored twice in the first half. The first tally came in the 32nd minute on an assist from Thomas Callery (Hilton, N.Y.) with the second coming six minutes later. Seth Spurgeon (Chittenango, N.Y.) scored the third goal for Keuka just before the hour mark. SUNY Poly (12-7) fired 14 shots with only three making it on frame where Ryan Mavretish (Camillus, N.Y.) stopped all of them. James D’Alessio (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) made five saves on eight shots in goal for SUNY Poly.
