Keuka College Claims NEAC Baseball Regular Season Championship, First Round Games Set for Tuesday

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Keuka College finished the regular season with a 15-3 record and an .833 winning percentage in league play to earn the 2019 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Baseball Regular Season Championship and the right to host the Final Four portion of the championship tournament on May 10-12.

Teams are required to complete 90 percent of their conference schedule to qualify for postseason play. With two teams completing 17 of their 18 scheduled games, winning percentage was utilized to seed teams. The top six teams advance to the postseason with the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds receiving a first-round bye.

This is the second regular season title for Keuka College with the first coming in 2014 when the Wolves were Co-Champions with Gallaudet University. This year marks the first time the Wolves will host the NEAC Baseball Final Four. Keuka College begins postseason play as the NEAC leader in hits (427), doubles (94), triples (25) and ERA (4.78) while ranking second in batting average (.336) and on-base percentage (.421).

Penn State Abington finished the weekend with a 14-3 record for a .824 winning percentage to receive the No. 2 seed and a bye straight to the final four. Penn College enters the postseason as the No. 4 seed after posting an 11-6 mark for a .647 winning percentage.

SUNY Cobleskill and Wells College each finished at 9-9 in conference games but the Express defeated the Fighting Tigers twice during the regular season to give them the No. 5 seed. SUNY Cobleskill rounds out the tournament field as the No. 6 seed.

The conference tournament features a pair of first round games on Tuesday with the No. 6 seed traveling to the No. 3 seed and the No. 5 seed heading to the No. 4 seed. First round contests will be a single nine-inning game. The winners of first round games will advance to a four-team, double-elimination tournament scheduled to begin on Friday at noon at Keuka College’s Kuhl Field. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament.
