Abebe & Kubat Take Home NEAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

LATHAM, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Lancaster Bible College’s Abenezer Abebe and SUNY Cobleskill’s Ashley Kubat as NEAC cross country Runners of the Week.

Abenezer Abebe (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia) won his second straight race and earns his second Men’s Runner of the Week honor of the season. The sophomore crossed the finish line in 26:03, 16 seconds in front of second place, over the 8k course at the Charger Invitational. Abebe aided the Chargers as the team finished second among seven teams.

Ashley Kubat (Sloansville, N.Y.) wins her third Women’s Runner of the Week in a row. The sophomore was the Fighting Tigers’ top finisher in 26th overall in the 160-runner field by covering the 6k course in 25:46.8. Kubat helped the Fighting Tigers to a seventh-place finish in a field of 21 at the Fred Pavlich Invitational hosted by Bard College on Saturday.
