Gallaudet Sweeps NEAC Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

LATHAM, N.Y. – Gallaudet University swept the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) men’s and women’s swimming and diving weekly awards with Ben Sealts and Jessica Monroe picking up the honors.

Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) was Gallaudet's leader last Saturday at Bridgewater (Va.) College as the junior won two individual events and barely missed out on a third win. The junior was first in the 100-meter IM and 200-meter breaststroke. Sealts finished second in the 200-meter freestyle as he was 00.53 of a second from first place. Sealts started the day on GU's 200-meter medley relay team as the Bison finished 12 seconds off the first-place pace set by the host Eagles. Bridgewater won the meet 126-107.

Jessica Monroe (Senoia, Ga.) led the way for the Gallaudet University women's swim team last Saturday at Bridgewater (Va.) College in a double-dual meet with the host Eagles and Hollins University. GU lost both meets. The senior finished third overall in the 800-meter freestyle and earned second-place points against Bridgewater and Hollins with a time of 12:40.86. Monroe was fourth overall in the 100-meter butterfly (1:36.86) but earned second-place points against Hollins. Monroe took fifth overall in the 100-meter backstroke (1:39.34) and was a member of the 200-meter freestyle relay for the Bison.
