NEAC Selects First Weekly Baseball Awards of 2019

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its first Student-Athlete of the Week selections of the 2019 season in baseball for the week ending Feb. 24. The first set of honorees this season includes student-athletes from Gallaudet University and SUNY Cobleskill.                                       

Cameron Upton (Vicksburg, Miss.) from Gallaudet University has been named NEAC Baseball Player of the Week after going 9-for-15 in his first four games the season. The Bison’s senior infielder went 6-for-6 with four RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Valley Forge on Feb. 15 to earn a spot on the Team of the Week. This past week, Upton picked up three hits with a run scored against Stevenson while driving in a run against Washington College. After two weeks of play, Upton has a .600 batting average and a .667 on-base percentage with two doubles, a triple, five RBIs and four stolen bases.

Tim Curtis (Slate Hill, N.Y.) from SUNY Cobleskill has been selected as the NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week with a shutout win in his first career start. The Fighting Tigers’ freshman scattered eight hits in the five-inning game as SUNY Cobleskill defeated Penn State Brandywine by a score of 11-0. Curtis struck out three and walked two to pick up the victory in his collegiate debut.


The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has 12 NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Cazenovia College, College of Saint Elizabeth, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University – Abington, Pennsylvania State University – Berks, SUNY Cobleskill, Morrisville State, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, and Wells College. Associate members are: Cedar Crest College (W Swimming), D’Youville College (W Lacrosse), Hilbert College (M&W Lacrosse), Medaille College (M&W Lacrosse), Rutgers University – Camden (M Golf), and Wilson College (M Volleyball).
