Ames, Will Named NEAC Women's Lacrosse Student-Athletes of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Mari Ames and Megan Will as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections women’s lacrosse for the week ending March 18.

Mari Ames (Carthage, N.Y.), a senior attacker from SUNY Poly, is the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after posting a team-high 16 points in two games. In a 19-3 win over Alfred, Ames tallied five goals and five assists to become the second player in SUNY Poly history to reach 200 career points. She added two goals and four assists with three ground balls in a 12-7 victory against Houghton on March 17. Ames finished the week with seven goals, including one free-position goal, nine assists and five ground balls.

Megan Will (Remsen, N.Y.) from SUNY Poly has been recognized as the NEAC Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after going 2-0 in her first two games back in net. The Wildcats’ senior goalie allowed three goals and made four saves in a win against Alfred before setting a new program single-game record with 20 saves against Houghton over the weekend. Will finished the week with 24 saves, a 5.00 goals-against average and a .706 save percentage.


The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has fourteen NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Bryn Athyn College, Cazenovia College, College of St. Elizabeth, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University – Abington, Pennsylvania State University – Berks, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Morrisville State College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Wells College, and Wilson College.  Associate members are: Cedar Crest College (W Swimming), D’Youville College (M Volleyball), Hilbert College (M&W Lacrosse), Medaille College (M&W Lacrosse, M Volleyball), Pennsylvania State University – Altoona (M Volleyball), and Rutgers University – Camden (M Golf).
