NEAC Announces Men's Golf and Women's Tennis Student-Athletes of the Week for Apr. 18

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s golf and women’s tennis for the week ending Apr. 16. There were no qualifying nominations for men’s tennis this week. This will also mark the final men’s golf selection of the season.

Shawn Westridge (Kerhonkson, N.Y.) from SUNY Cobleskill has been named the NEAC Men’s Golf Student-Athlete of the Week after helping lead his team to a pair of invitational victories. The Fighting Tigers’ senior posted his first career tournament victory at the 2017 Keuka College Spring Invitational finishing one over the course par with a 73. Westridge led the pack of 52 golfers as SUNY Cobleskill finished first out of nine teams. Later in the week, he finished fourth with a final score of 80 at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Classic.

Nicole Sanborn (Onondaga, N.Y.) from Wells College has been selected as the NEAC Women’s Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week accolades after winning both her matchups against the College of St. Elizabeth. In her senior day match, Sanborn cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. She also picked up a point in an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles with partner Kara Reynolds. The Express went on to win the match, 9-0, to earn their second win over the season and improve to 2-3 in NEAC play.


The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has fourteen NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Bryn Athyn College, Cazenovia College, College of St. Elizabeth, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University – Abington, Pennsylvania State University – Berks, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Morrisville State College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Wells College, and Wilson College.  Associate members are: Cedar Crest College (W Swimming), D’Youville College (M Volleyball), Hilbert College (M&W Lacrosse, M Volleyball), Medaille College (M&W Lacrosse, M Volleyball), Pennsylvania State University – Altoona (M Volleyball), and Rutgers University – Camden (M Golf).  The NEAC has partnered with the North Atlantic Conference in the sports of field hockey and men’s and women’s tennis.  For more information, please visit:
