NEAC Senior Spotlight: Charles Iwuoha, Wells College

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - Each week throughout the spring semester, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) will highlight a senior student-athlete from one of the conference's member institutions by asking each student-athlete to reflect on their collegiate career by sharing "A Letter to My Freshman Self." This week our senior spotlights resume with a letter from Wells College's Charles Iwuoha.

Name: Charles Iwuoha
Sport(s): Men's Lacrosse
Hometown: Queens, N.Y.

Dear Charles,

Four years from now, you will realize that deciding to join the lacrosse team is one of the best choices you have ever made in your life. My advice to you is never to stop making the leap and trying something new.

There is so much to do, so many people to meet, and so many memories to make in life. Sometimes all it takes is the courage to try. You and I have always been very shy and unwilling to get out of our comfort zone, but I want to tell you that it is okay.

Surround yourself with people who push you to be better on and off the field. Experience new and exciting activities and cultures, take those "interesting" courses, participate in weird school traditions, and do it all with a smile on your face and love in your heart. These four years will go by quicker than you will ever imagine and when all is said and done, you will look back and reminisce at times you shared with friends, teammates, and colleagues.

In the end, I wish that you will be proud of the bold steps you took and the lessons you learned along the way. Take advantage of every opportunity, live in the moment, and fight like hell for your success, happiness, and fulfillment.

You got this kid. Leap as high as the mountains.
