Cazenovia College Women, SUNY Cobleskill Men On Top After NEAC Swimming & Diving Championships Day One

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – The Cazenovia College women’s team and the SUNY Cobleskill men’s team sit atop the leaderboard at the conclusion of day one of the 2016-17 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Swimming & Diving Championships, which are being held at Cazenovia College Feb. 10-12.

On the women’s side, the Wildcats scored 209 points after winning two events and taking second place in three events. The Cedar Crest College Falcons are in second place after tallying 143 points, while the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers are third with 106 points. The Wells College Express finished the day in fourth with 92 points and the Gallaudet University Bison are fifth with 70 points.
The Fighting Tigers men’s team led the way after day one with 198 points after winning four of six events. Gallaudet followed with 116 points and two event wins to finish day one in second place, while Wells came in third with 10 points and Cazenovia scored 53 points to place fourth.
Two new championship meet records were set on day one with one on the women’s side and one for the men. Cedar Crest College senior Maggie Olock (Bethlehem, Pa.) broke her own record, winning the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 0:24.18 to best her old mark of 0:24.42 set in 2016. Gallaudet University freshman Chris Martinez (El Paso, Texas) set a new record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.73, breaking the previous record of 2:09.64 set by SUNY Cobleskill’s Nolan Graziano in 2014.
