Cazenovia College Women, Wells College Men Maintain Lead After NEAC Swimming & Diving Championship Day Two

CAZENOVIA, N.Y. – With the second day of competition complete, the Cazenovia College women and the Wells College men remain the team leaders at the 2018-19 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at Cazenovia College’s Schneeweiss Athletic Complex.

Cazenovia College won four women’s events on Saturday to finish the night with 409 points. Cedar Crest College held on to a slight edge in second place with 332 points while Wells College sits in third place with 313 points. Gallaudet University heads into the final day in fourth place with 139 points while SUNY Cobleskill is fifth with 122 points.

Two event wins helped Wells College remain at the top of the men’s rankings with 249 points while SUNY Cobleskill won four events Saturday evening to move into second place with 217 points. Gallaudet University dropped to third with 171 points and Cazenovia College has 33 points in fourth place.

Four more championship records were reset on Saturday with SUNY Cobleskill rookies setting two of the new times. Katie Noncarrow (Allendale, N.J.) won the women’s 400-yard individual medley in a record-setting time of 5:01.98 and Zac Boekeloo (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) was responsible for the new mark of 1:46.23 in the men’s 200-yard freestyle. Cazenovia College senior Jenni Uplinger (Windsor, N.Y.) also set a new record with a final time of 2:00.65 in the women’s 200-yard freestyle. Gallaudet University’s Ben Sealts (Ottawa, Ohio) also claimed another championship record with a time of 55.07 in the men’s 100-yard butterfly.

The championship meet will conclude on Sunday, with preliminaries starting at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 4:45 p.m. Following Sunday’s events, the team champions and annual award winners will also be announced.
