Weekly NEAC Notes: Milestones and Records Abound

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - This week’s NEAC notes take a look at team and individual highlights from around the conference for the week of Jan. 30 – Feb. 5, which includes a pair of 1,000th point milestones. This week’s NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week selections can also be viewed at the links below:

Cazenovia College’s Skylar Girard (Glens Falls, N.Y.) scored 18 points against SUNY Cobleskill on Feb. 1, including her 1,000th career point … A pair of players from Lancaster Bible College lead Division III individual statistical categories as Courtney Goyak (Beecher, Wis.) is tops in the country with 21.1 rebounds per game and Krissy Pennell (Wrightsville, Pa.) ranks number one in Division III, averaging 8.5 assists per game ... SUNY Polytechnic’s Stevie Ray (Syracuse, N.Y.) also leads the division with an average of 4.26 three-point field goals per game.


Men's Basketball

SUNY Cobleskill’s Joel Costello (Middleburgh, N.Y.) scored 43 points in an 84-75 win at Cazenovia on Feb. 1, marking the most points by a Fighting Tiger since the program’s move to the NCAA Division III level in 2008 … Thomas Ross (Williamsport, Pa.) reached his 1,000th career point in a 22-point performance to lead Penn College to an 88-77 victory at the College of St. Elizabeth on Feb. 4 … Morrisville State’s Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) earned ECAC Division III North Rookie of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks after tallying 77 points and 32 rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Mustangs … Cazenovia College picked up two big NEAC wins this weekend with Will Thompson (Bushkill, Pa.) scoring 19 points in a win over Wells and Nicholas Filippi (Syracuse, N.Y.) added 25 points in a win over Keuka.

Men's and Women’s Swimming & Diving

Cazenovia College will host the 2016-17 NEAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the Schneeweiss Athletic Complex on Feb. 10 - Feb. 12. Preliminary rounds will begin each day at 10 a.m. with the finals beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday before a 5 p.m. start for Sunday’s finals.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference has fourteen NCAA Division III member institutions which include: Bryn Athyn College, Cazenovia College, College of St. Elizabeth, Gallaudet University, Keuka College, Lancaster Bible College, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Pennsylvania State University - Abington, Pennsylvania State University - Berks, SUNY Cobleskill, SUNY Morrisville State College, SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Wells College, and Wilson College.  Associate members are: Cedar Crest College (W Swimming), D’Youville College (M Volleyball), Hilbert College (M Lacrosse & M Volleyball), Medaille College (M&W Lacrosse & M Volleyball), Penn State Altoona (M Volleyball) and Rutgers University - Camden (M Golf).  The North Eastern Athletic Conference has partnered with the North Atlantic Conference in the sports of field hockey and men’s and women’s tennis.
