Cazenovia and Wells Capture NEAC Swimming and Diving Crowns

Cazenovia, NY - The Cazenovia College women's and Wells College men's swimming and diving teams were both crowned Saturday evening as the 2009-10 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Swimming and Diving Champions. 

After day one of the championships it was Cazenovia College sitting atop the women's standings with a team score of 260.  Wells College was second with 189 and College of St. Elizabeth was third with 160.  SUNY IT and SUNY Cobleskill were in fourth and fifth position going into the final day with 87 and 73 points respectively. 

On the men's side SUNY IT was in first place after day one with 228.5 points followed closely by Wells College with 221.5.  Cazenovia finished the day in third with 144 and Cobleskill in fourth with 101 points. 

On the final day Cazenovia saw its lead grow and ended up finishing the championship with 508 points to take the top spot on the women's side.  Wells College was the runner-up on with 369 points.  College of St. Elizabeth was third with 341, SUNY IT was fourth with 182 and SUNY Cobleskill was fifth with 133.

The final day on the men's side saw Wells College come from behind to claim the top spot with 470.5 points.  SUNY IT, the leader after day one of the competition finished second with 410.5 points.  Cazenovia finished third with 295 and SUNY Cobleskill placed fourth with 180. 

Cazenovia's Emily Kostraba (Conesus, NY) was named the NEAC Women's Swimmer of the Year, while Jeff Dick (Albion, NY) of Wells was awarded the NEAC Men's Swimmer of the Year.

Bill Houser of Cazenovia was voted by his peers as the NEAC Women's Coach of the Year.  SUNY IT's Sue Brumm was selected as the NEAC Men's Coach of the Year.
