Tucker, Neild Selected as NEAC Basketball Student-Athletes of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s and women’s basketball for the week ending Jan. 27. This week’s honorees include student-athletes from the College of Saint Elizabeth and Gallaudet University.                                               

Cam Tucker (Columbus, N.J.) from the College of Saint Elizabeth has been named NEAC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week with an average of 25.7 points per game in a 2-1 week for the Eagles. Tucker began the week with a career-high 40 points in a win at Penn State Berks on Jan. 21. Later in the week, the Eagles’ junior guard added 18 and 19 points in games against Lancaster Bible and Keuka, respectively. He totaled 77 points in three games with four rebounds, 11 assists and 14 steals. Tucker also shot 63.0 percent from the field, 56.3 from three-point territory and 87.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Hannah Neild (Litchfield, N.H.) from Gallaudet University has been selected as the NEAC Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week for the third time this season after averaging 26.0 points and 12.7 rebounds as the Bison went 3-0 in NEAC play. On Jan. 21 against Penn College, Neild began the first Gallaudet player since 2009 to record a triple-double with 23 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists. The Bison’s senior guard also scored a career-best 39 points with 12 rebounds at Penn State Berks before adding 16 points and eight rebounds at Morrisville State. Neild had 78 points on the week with 38 rebounds, 17 assists, 10 steals and two blocks.
