Shewbridge, Ryan Named NEAC Men's & Women's Basketball Student-Athletes of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s and women’s basketball for the week ending Jan. 6. The first weekly awards of 2019 include student-athletes from Wells College and Lancaster Bible.                                                                

Jordan Shewbridge (New Holland, Pa.) from Lancaster Bible has been named NEAC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week after averaging 16 points in two games during a 1-1 week of non-conference play. The Chargers’ rookie guard scored 18 points with five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block on Jan. 2 at Juniata. He wrapped up the week with 14 points and two rebounds in an 83-78 win at Cabrini over the weekend. In the first week of the second semester, Shewbridge totaled 32 points and shot 52.6 percent from the field.

Carley Ryan (Middleburgh, N.Y.) from Wells College has been selected as the NEAC Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week with 34 points and 13 rebounds in a weekend split for the Express. Ryan recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 56-47 non-conference win against Oswego State on Saturday. The senior guard added 15 points and three rebounds the next day in a loss against SUNY Cortland. In addition to averaging 17 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, she finished the week with seven assists, seven steals and one block.
