Gayle, Cupello Named NEAC Men's Soccer Student-Athletes of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Jamar Gayle and Christian Cupello as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s soccer for the week ending Oct. 7.

Jamar Gayle (Kingston, Jamaica) from SUNY Poly has been named NEAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after playing a key role in a win over Gallaudet University. The sophomore forward had a hand in both goals of the Wildcats’ 2-1 conference victory over the Bison. Gayle began the game with an unassisted goal in the first half before assisting on the game-winning goal at 64:19. He ranks second on his team with 12 points.

Christian Cupello (Gates, N.Y.) from Keuka College has been selected as the NEAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after serving as the anchor of the Wolves’ defense in a 1-1 week. The senior defender helped Keuka College hold nationally-ranked No. 6 University of Rochester to three goals in a non-conference loss. Later in the week, Cupello added a goal and an assist in a 9-0 shutout victory over the College of Saint Elizabeth in league play.
