VanDemortel, Godfrey Named NEAC Cross Country Runners of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Dillon VanDemortal and Madeline Godfrey as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in men’s cross country and women’s cross country for the week ending Sept. 2.

Dillon VanDemortel (Newark, N.Y.) from SUNY Cobleskill has been selected as the NEAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. VanDemortel posted his second win of the season by finishing first at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet hosted by Fitchburg State on Sept. 1. The Fighting Tigers’ rookie led the field of 95 runners by completing the 8K race with a time of 26:23.

Madeline Godfrey (Fort Edward, N.Y.) from Cazenovia College has been named NEAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week after her performance in the 4K race at the Frank Dillon Memorial Lemoyne College Invitational. The Wildcats’ sophomore runner placed fifth among 55 runners with a time of 17:38. Godfrey’s run helped Cazenovia College finish third of the five teams competing.
