Upton, Pavlik Earn Final NEAC Baseball Weekly Awards of 2018

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in baseball for the week ending May 6. This week marks the final weekly awards for the 2017-18 academic year.

Cameron Upton (Vicksburg, Miss.) from Gallaudet University is the NEAC Baseball Player of the Week after going 16-for-18 in his final four games of 2018. The junior infielder had six extra-base hits and finished the week with 26 total bases to post an outstanding .850 on-base percentage. Upton also had 12 RBIs, 10 runs scored and two stolen bases in the Bison’s 3-1 week. The highlight of his week came in the final game of the season against SUNY Cobleskill when Upton hit for the cycle in a 6-for-7 day at the plate. In four games, Upton posted an. 889 batting average and a 1.444 slugging percentage.

Sean Pavlik (Boyertown, Pa.), a junior right-hander from Penn State Berks, has been named NEAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week with his best outing of the season. Pavlik allowed just one hit and did not issue a walk in a complete-game shutout at Penn College on May 5. He allowed just two baserunners, with one reaching on an error, and struck out six to improve to 4-1 on the year. With the regular season complete, Pavlik ranks third in the league with a 1.91 ERA against NEAC opponents.
