Joel Costello Named NEAC Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Joel Costello as its Student-Athlete of the Week selection in men’s basketball for the week ending Nov. 26.

Joel Costello (Middleburgh, N.Y.) from SUNY Cobleskill has been selected as the NEAC Men’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week after averaging 27 points per game in a 2-1 week for the Fighting Tigers. The senior guard hit the game-winning three-pointer in the closing seconds to defeat Clarks Summit, 67-64, on Nov. 21.Over the weekend, Costello earned a spot on the Harold J. Brodie All-Tournament Team after totaling 63 points in two games. In a loss to Oberlin, he scored 21 points with one rebound and four assists. Costello had a huge afternoon in a win over D’Youville on Sunday, scoring 42 points with five rebounds, six assists and three steals. For the week, Costello contributed 81 points, 11 rebounds, 18 assists, five steals and one block. He finished the week shooting 53.1 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from three-point range and 84.6 percent from the free-throw line.
