Long, Valentine Named NEAC Field Hockey Student-Athletes of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced Miranda Long and Kassidy Valentine as its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in field hockey for the week ending Sept. 10.

Miranda Long (Catawissa, Pa.) from Wilson College has been named NEAC Women’s Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week after leading her team to a 2-1 record and the Wilson College Invitational Championship. Long scored a goal in a 2-1 win over Ferrum on Sept. 9 before adding a pair of goals in a 3-0 victory in the championship game against East Mennonite. The senior forward recorded six points on five shots for the week.

Kassidy Valentine (Glendora, Calif.) from Keuka College has been chosen as NEAC Women’s Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week after posting a 1-1 record. The sophomore goalkeeper allowed two goals and made 12 stops in a loss against Houghton earlier in the week before closing out the week with five saves in a 2-1 overtime win against Drew. Valentine posted a 1.54 save percentage and a .850 save percentage on the week.
