NEAC Announces Men's Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for Mar. 7

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections for the week ending Mar. 5. This week’s honorees include Pat Stroh of D’Youville College and Nick Cantando of Keuka College.

Pat Stroh (Hamburg, N.Y.) from D’Youville College has been named the NEAC Men’s Volleyball Player of the Week after putting together some outstanding numbers in five matches for the Spartans. The junior outside hitter recorded 63 kills, 31 digs, eight blocks and six service aces over the course of the week. Stroh recorded at least 12 kills in four of his five matches, including 17 kills against Keuka on Mar. 4. He also had double-figures in digs on two occasions, tallying 10 against Medaille and 13 against Keuka. In the NEAC, Stroh ranks eighth in kills, second in kills per set and sixth in service aces per set.

Nick Cantando (Horseheads, N.Y.), a junior libero from Keuka College, has been selected as the NEAC Men’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Cantando recorded 64 digs in four matches, including 56 in conference play, to finish the week with an average of 3.76 digs per set. In a five-set loss to Medaille on Mar. 4, Cantando posted 21 digs with three assists for his top performance of the week. He also combined for 35 digs in the Wolves’ NEAC victories over D’Youville and Hilbert to close out the week. Cantando ranks third in the league with 2.78 digs per set.
