NEAC Announces Women’s & Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athlete of the Week Selections for 01-17-17

GANSEVOORT, NY - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in women’s and men’s swimming and diving for the award period covering all competitions between December 12 and January 15. This week’s recognized athletes are SUNY Cobleskill junior Danielle Hoyt and SUNY Cobleskill sophomore diver Sam Datri.

Danielle Hoyt (Walcott, N.Y.) is the Women’s Student-Athlete of the Week following a stellar performance for the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers in a dual-meet at Cazenovia College.  Hoyt earned first-place finishes in three individual events and was part of a winning relay.  Hoyt won the 50-yard breaststroke in 34.92 seconds, the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.41 and the 100-yard individual medley in 1:11.56.  Her time in the 100 IM is a school record. As part of the 200-yard medley relay, Hoyt’s quartet clocked a winning time of 2:04.42.  She was joined on the relay by Erin Fitzgerald, Emily Sugrue, and Mackenzie Cross.

Sam Datri (Ravena, N.Y.) earned the Men’s Student-Athlete of the Week for the third time this year.  He continues to excel on the diving boards for the Fighting Tigers.  He scored 432.30 points in a win for the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers against Cazenovia College that also included members of the Syracuse University Swimming Club.  His score of 432.30 met the NCAA national qualifying standard, which was his second qualifying score of the season and earned him a berth in the NCAA Division III Diving Regionals at the end of the season.
