NEAC Announces Women’s and Men’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athlete of the Week Selections for 12-13-16

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has announced its Student-Athlete of the Week selections in women’s and men’s swimming & diving for the period running from Monday, December 5 through Sunday, December 11. 

Mackenzie Cross (Queensbury, N.Y.) has been selected as the NEAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after an excellent performance for the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers.  The senior won three events to help lead the Fighting Tigers to a 103-87 victory over host Bard College this past Saturday.  Cross won two individual events on the day, being the first out of six swimmers to touch the wall in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 0:28.15, before also topping the field of four in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.46.  Cross also swam a leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay, helping Cobleskill win the event with a time of 1:54.98.    

 

Sam Datri (Ravena, N.Y.) has been named the NEAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week after a record-setting performance for the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers.  The sophomore made program history on the diving board while helping the Fighting Tigers capture a 121-82 road victory over Bard College last Saturday.  Datri won the one-meter diving competition with a score of 450.59 points, which set a new 11-dive record for Cobleskill and also met the NCAA Division III Regional qualifying standards for the event.  Datri was also strong in the lanes, swimming a leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay that placed first with a time of 1:39.71, while also placing second out of five in the 100-yard freestyle individual event with a time of 0:57.34.  The Fighting Tigers’ victory helped them improve to 5-2 overall versus head-to-head competition on the year.
