NEAC's Announces First Player of the Week Selections for 2010-2011
The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week selections for week ending Sunday, September 5, 2010 in the sports of men’s & women's cross country, men's golf, men’s & women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball.
Chris Senez (Clifton Park, NY) was selected as the NEAC
Men’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for his 6th
place finish out of 112 finishers in the 4th Annual SUNIT
Invitational in Utica, NY. Senez, a senior, finished the 6K
race in 21:00.6 (5:37 per mile pace) to lead his SUNY
Institute of Technology Wildcats to a 1st place
finish out of 12 teams.
Chelsea Socha (Himrod, NY) was selected as the NEAC
Women’s Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for her 1st
place finish out of 76 finishers in the 4th Annual SUNIT
Invitational in Utica, NY. Socha, a senior, finished the 5K
race in 20:16 (6:31 per mile pace) to lead his Keuka
College Storm to a 6th place finish out of 9
teams.
Tyler Shaw (Troy, NY) was selected as the NEAC Golf
Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance in the 2010 Utica
College Invitational held at the Hidden valley Golf Course in
Whitesboro, NY. Shaw, a junior for the SUNY
Cobleskill Fighting Tigers, shot a 12-over par 83,
finishing 24th individually while his team finished in 7th place
among 10 teams with a team total 337. Shaw led his team to the best
NEAC team finish among other NEAC teams at the event.
Danny Francis (Pottstown, PA) was selected as the NEAC
Men’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for his dominating
for the Penn State Harrisburg Nittany
Lions. Francis, senior forward, scored 4 goals
and had 2 assists for a total of 10 points on the week. He led his
team to a 2-0 week with a hat trick performance and two assists in
the game versus Valley Forge Christian College.
Adrienne Stine (York, NY) was selected as the NEAC
Women’s Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for her offensive
proficiency for the Penn State Harrisburg Nittany
Lions. Stine, a senior midfielder, scored 3
goals and had 2 assists for a total of 8 points on the week.
She led her team to 1-1 week showing her skills against Valley
Forge Christian College where she scored 2 goals and added 2
assists.
Paige Johnson (North Richland Hills, TX) was selected as
the NEAC Women’s Volleyball Student-Athlete of the week for
her tremendous week for the Gallaudet University
Bisons. Johnson, a junior setter and team
captain, finished the week playing 16 games with 139 assists
(8.69/game), 16 kills on 36 attempts, 41 digs (2.56/game), 11 aces,
6 blocks, and 1.875 points per game. Johnson was also
selected to the Battlefield Classic (hosted by Gettysburg)
all-tournament team for her performance and leadership on the
court.
