NEAC Student-Athlete Of The Week Selections For 10/26/09
The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week selections ending Sunday, October 25th, 2009 in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis, and women's volleyball.
Kane Seamon (Richfield Springs, NY) was selected
as the NEAC Mens Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for his
24th place finish out of 160 runners in the 2009 Saratoga Springs
Invitational hosted by RPI. Seamon, a senior, finished the 8K race
in 27:08:79 (5:27 mile pace) to lead his SUNY
Cobleskill Fighting Tigers to a 7th place finish.
Brittany Hinton (Marlboro, NJ) was selected as
the NEAC Womens Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for her
1st place finish out of 94 runners at the St. Joseph Cross Country
Meet in Long Island, NY. The freshman finished the 5K race in 20:21
(6:33 mile pace) to take the top individual spot but unfortunately
her College of Saint Elizabeth Eagles
couldnt compete as a team. This was Hintons fastest time of the
year and her second time winning this award.
Josh Feldschnedier (Delran, NJ) was selected as
the NEAC Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for his two 1st place
individual victories in the past week. Feldschneider shot an even
par 71 to beat 68 other golfers at the Swarthmore Fall Invitational
and followed it up with a 4-over par 74 to take medalist honors at
the Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors Fall Golf
Invitational. The Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet
Raptor is only a freshman and these were his first
two collegiate events that he has played in.
Elsion Pajollari (Korce, Albania) was selected as
the NEAC Mens Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for his three
spectacular offensive performances, all against conference
opponents. Pajollari started the week by scoring two goals,
including the game winner in a 4-0 win over Penn-State
University-Harrisburg. He followed up that performance with two
late goals against Morrisville State in a 4-3 come-from-behind
victory. The sophomore finished the week with his best game, three
goals to lead his Penn State University-Abington
Nittany Lions over SUNY Cobleskill in a 3-2 win.
Kristen Raina (Granby, MA) was selected as the
NEAC Womens Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for her dominating
performance in a victory over conference foe, Penn State
University-Abington. Raina, a junior, had 16 shots and six goals
for her SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers
in the 7-1 win. This is Rainas second time winning this award this
year and has now scored 100 points in her career at SUNY
Cobleskill.
Eric Sedlacek (Endicott, NY) was selected as the
NEAC Mens Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of the Week for his
steady performance at the SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational. The junior
finished 1st in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:01.09 and 2nd in the
200 backstroke with a 2:17.27 time. Sedlaceks performance
catapulted his SUNY Institute of Technology
Wildcats to a 1st place team finish with 655 points,
in his schools inaugural event.
Victoria Shertel (May’s Landing, NJ) was
selected as the NEAC Womens Swimming and Diving Student-Athlete of
the Week for her strong effort for the College of Saint
Elizabeth Eagles. Shertel finished the SUNYIT Wildcat
Invitational with three 1st place finishes and one 2nd place
finish. The junior won the 100 Backstroke with a 1:17.81 time, the
100 Breaststroke with a 1:31.45 time, and the 400 Free Relay with a
6:14.49 time which was a full 19 seconds before the next team. In
the 200 Backstroke, Shertel finished second with a time of 2:53.77.
Juleah Vedder (Dolgeville, NY) was selected as
the NEAC Womens Volleyball Student-Athlete of the Week for her
outstanding offensive numbers over the past week for the
SUNY Institute of Technology Wildcats.
Vedder, a sophomore outside hitter, finished the week playing 11
games with 44 kills (4 /game) on 124 attempts, 32 digs (2.91/game),
11 aces (1/game), 5 blocks (.45/game), and 5.36 points per game.
The 6-foot stand out finished the regular season as the team leader
in kills, digs, serve aces, solo blocks, and total blocks. This is
the fourth time this season that Juleah has won this award.
