North Eastern Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week Selections

GANSEVOORT, NY - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announces student-athlete of the week selections ending Sunday, September 6th, 2009 in the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's golf, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball.

Kevin Wippel (Pine Bush, NY) was selected as the NEAC Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week for his 8th place of 75 finishers at the 5 Mile Knight's Joust Meet hosted by the College of St. Rose with a time of 28:32 (5:42 per mile pace). Wippel is a junior for the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers whose team tied for 2nd place out of 7 teams.

 

 

Brittany Hinton (Marlboro, NJ) was selected as the NEAC Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the week for her 3rd place of 155 finishers at the 6K Delaware Valley Invitational with a time of 24:09.27 (6:28 per mile pace). Hinton is a freshman for the Collegeof St. Elizabeth Screaming Eagles. Hinton finished the first race of the year leading all runners for College of St. Elizabeth.

 

 

Chris Pace (Cortland, NY) was selected as the NEAC Men's Golf Student-Athlete of the week for his outstanding performance for the SUNY Institute of Technology Wildcats. Pace, a freshman, shot a 78 (par 71) at the Utica College Fall Invitational finishing 3rd out of 47 golfers, leading his team to 3rd place finish out of 9 teams with a score of 326.

 

 

Matt Gillis (Manilus, NY) was selected as the NEAC Men's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for his offensive performance for the CazenoviaCollegeWildcats. Gillis, a junior forward, had 11 shots and 5 goals leading his team to 2-1 start on the season. Gillis tallied a hat-trick in the 5-1 win over Thiel College and both goals (with the game winner) in the 2-0 win over Hilbert College.

 

 

Allie Rank (Halifax, PA) was selected as the NEAC Women's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for her performance for the Penn State University - Harrisburg Nittany Lions. Rank, a sophomore midfielder, had 9 shots and 4 goals leading her team to a 2-0 start on the season. She tallied a hat-trick in the team's win over Valley Forge Christian College while adding another goal in the victory over Immaculata College.

 

 

Amanda Britton (Cazenovia, NY) was selected as the NEAC Women's Volleyball Student-Athlete of the week for her outstanding performance for the Morrisville State College Mustangs. Britton, a senior outside hitter, finished the week playing a total of 20 games with 85 kills (4.25/game) in 220 attempts, 11 aces, 73 digs (3.65/game), 6 total blocks, and 6.375 points per game. Britton led the Mustangs to a 2-2 showing at the D'Youville College Tournament and a 3-2 week overall while being named to the All-Tournament team.
