NEAC Student-Athlete Spotlight: Michael Litz, Penn State Abington

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. - Each week throughout the fall semester, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) will highlight student-athletes from one of the conference's member institutions through a brief Q & A. Female student-athletes will be featured each Thursday followed by a male student-athletes spotlight each Friday. Today, we get to know Penn State Abington's Michael Litz.

What is your current class year and major?

Junior, Finance major

Why did you choose to attend Penn State Abington?

I chose to attend Penn State Abington because I really felt connected to the campus and community, and felt wanted by the coaches as both a tennis player and a person.

What does it mean to you to be a member of the Penn State Abington women's soccer and softball teams?

I'm honored to be a member of the Penn State Abington Men's Tennis team as it has given me the opportunity to represent the campus and all of the people responsible for shaping my positive experience here.

If you could pick one favorite moment at Penn State Abington, what would it be?

Freshman year, on the last day of classes, my integrative arts class decided to honor our retiring professor by each of us giving him a pen and a handshake, similar to the movie "A Beautiful Mind" which we watched in class. Our professor was visibly touched by our gesture, and it meant a lot to be able to honor someone who dedicated so many years to Abington.

What are your career aspirations or future goals?

I hope to someday teach/perform research at a college or university, and eventually transition into the administrative side of higher education.

Are you involved in additional activities, clubs, etc. on campus outside of athletics?

SAAC, NEAC SAAC Chair, Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee, Lion Ambassador

Give us three words that best describe being a Division III student-athlete.

Finally, what makes you #NEACStrong?

I am #NEACStrong because I am proud of who I am, and I don't let outside influences shape who I am or who I see myself as.
